MCAHS Athletes of the Month

Senior girls soccer team captain, Holly Ibanez, was voted the Ed Romance Athlete of the month for October.  Ibanez surpassed the previous record for most career goals, while also passing the 100 goal milestone, ending her career with 106 goals.   Ibanez, the daughter of Marcy Kelly and David Fetter, is not only involved in soccer with Mount Carmel and her traveling team, but she is also a member of the winter and spring track teams, intramural volleyball, and the powder puff football team. 

She is active in the Science Club, Interact, SADD, FTA, and the Spanish club and ranks in the top 10 of her senior class as a distinguished honor roll student.  She serves as Vice-President of the National Honor Society, Vice-President of the Quill and Scroll Honor Society, and President of the National Athletic Honor Society. Ibanez is also an editor of MCALive, Mount Carmel Area's morning news program and the Tornado Times magazine. She has been accepted to Florida Institute of Technology to pursue a degree in engineering and to continue her soccer career.

Mathew Kozlowski, a senior captain of the cross-country team, has been voted the Ed Romance Athlete of the month for November.  Kozlowski, a resident of Mount Carmel and son of Mark and Christine Kozlowski, performed exceptionally well this cross country season.  He finished his career 8th in the Schuylkill League, 10th in the district, and 116th in the state.  He is a four year letterman in cross country and track, and has been named to the league all-star team three times, along with the Most Valuable Runner, Outstanding Underclassman, and Merit Awards.  Kozlowski is a member of the four-year Division 2 cross country championship team, and the state qualifying 4x800 relay team.  Apart from cross-country, he is a member of the winter and spring track and field teams. He has participated in Hoops for Heart, Toys for Tots, and COALS cleanup. Kozlowski plans to attend a trade or technology school for carpentry or architecture upon graduation.
