Alyssia Venna and Hailey Stepp recently took first place in the digital movie category at the CSIU Computer Fair Regional Competition on March 25th. Their four and a half minute video sparked an informational interest on the importance of blood donation and was therefore titled, “Saving Lives through Blood Donation.” Wally Watkins starred as the victim of a car accident in the video and in turn needed a blood transfusion to live. Alyssia Venna, director, was also in the movie on the scene of this year’s Red Cross Blood Drive, explaining the facts about Blood donation. The girls’ aims were to catch the judges’ attentions by researching the topic thoroughly and providing them with an understating about the background information of blood characteristics. It also sent out a heartwarming feeling as Wally Watkins’ character portrayed the victim of just one of the many incidents where a person needs a blood transfusion. Every two seconds, someone in America needs blood, and knowing this, the girls felt the need to relay this important message. All of the videography seen in the movie was taken by Hailey Stepp. Stepp and Venna will advance to the Computer Fair State Competition in May. Congratulations girls on your first place award and Good luck at States!
