“It’s not only fun, but homework club can help you a ton!” This is the slogan for the new club that was recently started at Mount Carmel Area. The Homework Club is open to all students in grades seven and eight. The club was started with the incentive of helping students with homework and school projects after school while the material is still fresh in their minds. It is recognized that students have many things going on in their lives outside of school and it is very important for them to complete their assignments. It will be held every week, Monday through Thursday, from 2:30 until 3:30. The library, cafeteria, computer lab, and room 232, Mrs. Giles’ room, will be open for students to come and do their homework after school, and transportation will be provided for all students who attend. Many teachers will be on hand monitoring and helping the students. Mr. Cunningham, Mr. Fourspring, Mrs. Mattucci, Mrs. Hollenbush, Mrs. Sierdzinski, Mrs. Giles, Mr. MacDonald, Ms. Smith, Mrs. Harner, and Mr. Kozlowski are all putting their time in after school. Students will be rewarded for attending Homework Club. On Thursday, April 10, the first twenty students who signed in received a free backpack. Other prizes that will be rewarded include a front of the lunch line pass and a dress down day. Program supervisor, Mr. Gregory Sacavage commented “It’s a great opportunity and an easy way for students to pick up their grades.”
