On Wednesday, March 12, a group of students from Mount Carmel Jr./Sr. high school attended the Science Olympiad with the science club. This group of students, led by Mrs. Diane Candelora and Mrs. Tara Varner, had the opportunity to take part in science tests and labs depending on his or her commitment to the club. The three major categories of sciences that they were able to take part in were physical, earth and biological. This activity was graciously held by the Wilkes Barre Campus of Penn State University. Two Mount Carmel teams earned first places honors at the competition. Both awards were in the ecology department. Shaine Lepley and Nathan Hinkle won in the Jr. High division while Quinn McCracken and Chrissy Candelora came out on top in the senior high. Congratulations are extended to the winners, as well as all who participated in this academic event.
