The stage crew at MCAHS is an extra-curricular activity. However, students from Communications Media classes are given lessons regarding stage lighting, audio, technical stagecraft, and art. The stage crew is comprised of students from the WKMCTV. However, membership is not limited to those clubs. Any interested student from grades seven through twelve can become a member by contacting Mr. McFee in the television studio. The stage crew is responsible for creating, constructing, and painting all scenery for the high school musical each year. Design and construction begins in October and continues until the show in March. Most stage crew members participate in building sets and scenery painting. If you have an interest in painting large sets or working as a stage carpenter, you can learn more by contacting Mr. McFee in the television studio.
Opportunities to work with professional stage rigging, lighting and audio systems are available, as well as stage management and technical direction for more experienced students. The crew works behind the scenes during the play to create scene changes and special effects. In addition, members provide technical support for other events held in the auditorium, such as concerts, school assemblies, and other programs.
